Dr. David F. Mawyer
From college on, Dr. Mawyer always knew that he wanted to practice dentistry in Montana. There is just something intoxicating about this Big Sky Country that drew him to this area for outdoor adventures and to eventually raise his family.
Past
Dr. Mawyer graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry located in Memphis, Tennessee in 1977. While he was there he was honored by the Dean Honorary Odontological Society. After graduating from dental school, he made a beeline up to Montana, and he has been practicing here ever since. He has to admit, though, that he still "gets a hankerin' for Corky's BBQ" and has it shipped up here a couple of times a year.
While building his general practice, Dr. Mawyer enjoyed many aspects of dentistry. For many years he did contract work with the Indian Health Service and Head Start programs to take care of preschool and school-aged Native American children. He also had the responsibility for supervising the dental health of nursing home patients in Big Horn County.
Wanting to take his dental expertise to the next level, Dr. Mawyer received advanced training in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) under the direction of Dr. Bill Dickerson and Dr. David Hornbrook.
After completing his training, Dr. Mawyer was asked by Dr. Hornbrook to become an adjundt faculty member at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco to become an instructor at the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum (PAC-Live) Program that he was establishing. While maintaining his practice in Billings, Dr. Mawyer taught and mentored dentists at this program many times a year from 1998-2003.
From 2003-2008 Dr. Mawyer was an instructor with The Hornbrook Group and taught cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry at various dental schools across the U.S. He instructed dentists on how to become outstanding cosmetic dentists, and in return, he was always aware of the newest materials, equipment, and procedures in his profession.
Present
